India and South Africa have formally discussed working together in the oil and gas industry.
Following the recent 3rd India Brazil South Africa Summit, Shri Murli Deora, minister of petroleum and natural gas in India, met with BP Sonjica, the minister for minerals and energy of South Africa, in New Delhi.
In a move that could interest those concerned with oil and gas training, they discussed the use of South African personnel in Indian energy education facilities.
On top of this, the ministers spoke of cooperating to form a compressed natural gas network in South Africa.
Collaboration with the South African company PetroSA for use of coal-to-liquid technology in the Asian country was also considered by the two parties.
In related news, IndianOil last month announced it was to provide 450 academic scholarships to those pursuing engineering degrees in the 2008-09 year.
Special encouragement was given to female candidates as well as physically challenged students.
Indian Oil is India's biggest company by sales at the moment and is listed on the Fortune Global 500.
