India will look to expand bilateral relations with Kazakhstan through training and cooperation in the oil and gas industry, India's plenipotentiary ambassador to Kazakhstan Ashok Sadzhanhar has announced.
Speaking exclusively to Kazinform, the diplomat identified the energy industry as one of the key sectors which will allow both countries to enjoy the considerable growth they have witnessed in recent years through this period of economic difficulty.
He added that Kazakhstan could benefit from India's extensive skill and expertise in areas such as refinery processing, with the ambassador "happy" to extend existing training and development programmes to more Kazakh workers.
Mr Sadzhanhar added: "Especially I would like to mention the very important and useful role of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC), which is an excellent initiative to improve the skills of Kazakh workers."
ITEC was launched in 1964 and has extended approximately $2 billion worth of training services to developing nations since this time, with a particular focus on strengthening the technical capabilities of workers in countries such as Kazakhstan.
