Indian companies working in the oil and gas industry are set to get prioritised security consultancy services from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
Speaking to Business Standard, the organisation's director general N R Das said that plans for the administration of such services are currently being finalised with the ministry of home affairs.
More than 50 private organisations have already expressed an interest in receiving cover from the CISF, with Essar Oil and Reliance Industries prominent among them.
Access to security consultancy and training will be prioritised for those companies which are viewed as "vital for economic development of the country", Mr Das added.
It is likely that large players in the oil and gas industry and other key sectors are likely to win out over their smaller rivals.
In a message to the nation posted on the CISF website, N R Das explains that the role and remit of the organisation has increased dramatically in recent years as attempts to destabilise the country have escalated.
