Global training technology solutions group Invensys has unveiled the new EYESim virtual reality (VR) training and development suite to the oil and gas industry.
Marketed as the first industrial training simulation system to utilise first-principle simulation and augmented reality technology, the EYESim suite has been designed to allow engineers to gain practical experience of plant processes in a safe and controlled environment.
Invensys technologies are used by more than 40,000 clients around the world in more than 200,000 facilities in all sectors of the oil and gas industry.
Tobias Scheele, vice-president of advanced applications at Invensys Operations Management, said that the new technology will allow these customers to train workers to carry out rarely performed, potentially hazardous tasks in a safe environment.
Invensys has also this month announced that it has signed a five-year contract to supply a new VR training, process design and operation optimisation solution for the Malaysia LNG Tiga plant, part of the world's largest liquefied natural gas plant.
