Invensys has announced that it has signed a new multimillion dollar contract with Waha Oil to upgrade technology at the Libyan company's oil fields in Gialo, Waha, Dahra, Samha and Defa.
Under the terms of the agreement, Invensys Process Systems (IPS) will deliver its signature InFusion enterprise control system technology to replace five legacy systems at remote-area control centres in the fields.
Roberto DiMeo, IPS client sales executive, added: "Our state-of-the-art technology will improve the compatibility between different generations of system components at Waha's oil fields, as well as grant access to the centralised, real-time information Waha Oil needs to reduce operating and production costs."
The company will also provide testing, installation, commissioning and training solutions to ensure that the new technology is integrated efficiently.
IPS expects that the new technology will allow Waha to establish itself as a leading voice in Libya's oil and gas industry.
In February, the firm also announced the signing of a major new contract with Qatargas for an automation upgrade at the Qatar Gas 1 liquefied natural gas processing facility.
