The Iraqi government has approved the export of oil and gas from semi-autonomous Kurdistan as it looks to boost its national revenues.
After a statement issued on Sunday (May 10th) legitimising the sale of crude from Kurdish reserves, the Iraqi oil ministry issued two licences to DNO and Addax to begin exporting from the Tawke and Taq Taq fields from June 1st.
The news comes after Heritage Oil, a Canadian firm, announced a multibillion-barrel find in Kurdistan, piquing interest in sending oil from the region to market.
Addax also has a strong presence in Africa and is actively exploring in Gabon, Nigeria and Cameroon.
As part of its corporate citizenship strategy, the company has established the Addax Petroleum Foundation, which is an independent charitable organisation focused on providing education, health, community development and environmental protection in its locale of operations and beyond.
Its community relations programmes also commit substantial funding to training and infrastructure within local communities.
