The number of workers receiving training at the Condet training hall in Jakarta is continuing to grow year on year.
Ghofar Ismail, head of business division at the training centre, told the Jakarta Post that the number of graduates in 2008 nearly doubled compared to the previous year.
And registrations for the specialist welding courses offered by the training centre indicate that interest in the profession is continuing to grow.
"The training centre has global fame, especially in Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait," Mr Ismail enthused, adding that the facilities attract instructors from around the globe.
Over a three-month period, students receive some 600 hours of welding training, with many people using the skills they have learnt to enter the offshore oil and gas industry.
The Condet training centre focuses on providing practical training scenarios to ensure that workers are prepared to integrate and excel quickly into their chosen industry.
