Jammu University is set to construct a new energy institute to offer its students world-class energy training and development programmes.
The new centre forms part of a collaboration between Jammu and University College London (UCL), which will work together to promote teaching, training and research in various branches of science.
According to Merinews, a memorandum of understanding was recently signed by delegates from both universities and will enable Jammu to offer internationally renowned energy training courses at postgraduate level.
Professor Amitabh Mattoo, vice-chancellor of the university, said that the institute would also work with energy major Eni to provide students with practical ties to the oil and gas industry.
Meanwhile, UCL has also recently announced that it will begin to offer its environmental degree courses overseas, with the development of a new campus in Adelaide.
"Through our campus in Adelaide and as part of University City there, UCL will give a global lead on industry-focused research and teaching in a global context," said Professor Michael Worton, UCL vice-provost (Academic & International).
