Kongsberg has been awarded a new contract to develop a digital oil field tool (DOFT) for Petrobras America.
The advanced technology company will provide a DOFT for the Cascade and Chinook floating storage, production and offloading (FPSO) vessel which will be located in the Walker Ridge Block of the Gulf of Mexico.
In a statement, Kongsberg announced that the DOFT system will provide Petrobras with real-time time monitoring functionalities and accurate prediction tools.
"Offline, it will facilitate production planning and training in subsea operations," the group added.
The Cascade and Chinook is located approximately 180 miles south of New Orleans and is both the farthest and deepest offshore development in the gulf. It is also the deepest FPSO rig in the world.
Last month, Kongsberg also delivered new collaboration facilities to GDF SUEZ for the operation of the Gjoa field in the North Sea.
The Kongsberg Intellifield solution will handle onshore work processes and mapping, in addition to serving as a training base for GDF SUEZ employees.
