Russia will continue to strengthen its ties with Vietnam in oil and natural gas ventures and technical training programmes, Dmitri Medvedev has claimed.
On a state visit to the south-east Asian country, he said that the country would continue to extend specialist educational training programmes to enhance the skill set of the Vietnamese workforce.
So too, Russia and Vietnam will continue to enhance cooperation in areas of oil and gas production, mining, manufacturing and other key sectors, president Medvedev announced.
After the meeting, he told Reuters that a deal had been struck between Gazprom and the state-owned Petrovietnam which will boost annual trade threefold.
According to VietnamNet Bridge, Medvedev reiterated his commitment to providing education and training for Vietnamese workers looking to enter skilled sectors such as engineering.
Meanwhile, Vietnamese president Nguyen Minh Triet urged Russia to continue to fulfil its commitment to development and global stability by expanding its trade links and training programmes with Vietnam.
