Trade and energy ministers of numerous east Asian countries have pledged their commitment to developing strong energy management training and development frameworks in pursuance of a more secure regional energy network.
At a meeting in Mandalay, Myanmar, at the end of July, energy ministers concluded that encouraging a relaxation of trade and investment regulations will also be key to strengthening the region's oil and gas industry.
The Bangkok Times quoted Thai prime minister Thein Sein as saying: "Myanmar has been working its best to have energy supply security and at the same time [is] embarking on programs of energy efficiency and conservation, as well as [the] development of alternative and renewable energy."
Thailand also has a strong core training and development sector, with companies such as MOG Industry Training and PTTCO headquartered in the country, providing health and safety training and wellhead servicing, maintenance and repair training for the national and international oil and gas industry.
