More ex-militants are set to begin oil industry training in Nigeria on Monday, according to a report.
The region's news provider Vanguard reported that following the passing-out of the second batch of ex-militants, a third group are to begin their skills training.
Timi Alaibe, the special adviser to the president on the Niger Delta, reportedly said that the third batch of trainees would include 1,000 ex-militants.
Further investment in training in the region is helping to boost skills among the local workforce and steps are also being taken to provide training for younger generations, the news provider claims.
It notes that the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board has said companies working in the oil and gas industry are to spend some $500 million in the next five years on the training of young people for engineering design projects.
The training of ex-militants follows the laying down of weapons last year as part of an effort to bring stability to the region.
