Providing training opportunities and promoting job creation has played a key part in helping China to sustain its economic growth, the director of the National Bureau of Statistics has claimed.
In an article originally written for Qiushi, the director noted that 10.2 million jobs were created across industrial, business and agricultural sectors throughout both cities and townships, matching governmental employment targets.
However, he noted that training and development will prove vital in coastal areas where jobs are largely exported-oriented.
As such, workers may be able to find work in other sectors such as the energy industry.
"Local governments have taken a series of measures , such as extending subsidies to those who are laid off, offering them training courses and striving to create new jobs," he said.
Other international agreements such as the United States Energy Association's US - China Natural Gas Training programme may also help to stimulate growth and bolster employment in both countries.
The courses focus on upstream, midstream and downstream operations training to promote robust development of the countries' energy industries, which may be of key utility during a downturn.
