The Nigerian economy needs to become based on the utilisation of a skilled workforce, Chimaobi Jonathan Ibeneche, chief executive of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), has claimed.
According to Vanguard, the boss called for greater training and development opportunities for workers looking to overcome poverty and hardship through the pursuance of a career in the oil and gas industry and other key sectors.
Mr Ibeneche went on to call for greater development of skill sets that are based on and responsive to the needs of the country's economy.
He added that, once successful, "[this] knowledge will have found its way into applications in the production processes of the organisation and in the economy and culture of the people".
Elsewhere, This Day has reported that new training and development strategies will help Nigerian women to develop entrepreneurial skills and establish their own businesses to reduce the risk of poverty and help stabilise the country's economy.
