Canada's burgeoning solar energy industry will be buoyed by governmental training and development programmes, the company's natural resources minister has insisted.
Speaking yesterday (December 8th), Lisa Raitt said that the solar sector will play an important role in ensuring the future of Canada's energy supply while also furthering its commitment to the environment.
Raitt also pledged commitment to a program run in partnership with the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC) which will aim to extend training to Canadian workers looking to enter the renewable energy industry.
"Colleges and institutes produce graduates with the advanced skills required to improve Canada's economic productivity. Our solar industries are growing rapidly and the demand for highly qualified persons to support the industry is strong," said James Knight, ACCC president and chief executive officer.
The association's renewable energy program also extends to a nationwide training and development covering the solar, wind, hydro and biomass energy industries.
