A new education centre that will support the oil and gas industry in Florida has been celebrated.
Siemens has worked with the University of Central Florida (UCF) to build the Siemens Energy Centre, situated near the Robinson Observatory in the American city, that will look into the effectiveness of power generation equipment and reducing costs.
It will provide students with more space for research into the sector with more than 30 students, around six UCF faculty members and 25 Siemens employees to conduct the projects at the centre.
UCF president John Hitt said that the centre will benefit the organisations involved and that the "collaboration also has the potential to address the worlds energy needs, which is of even greater consequence".
The specific areas that will be focused on include turbine research, cooling concepts and heat transfer, as engineers will be trained by the university.
Siemens recently announced that it was to work with E.ON to build a windfarm off of the Danish coast.
