Ecopetrol has announced the discovery of a new oil well in Colombia, MercoPress has revealed.
Situated in the province of Hulia, in the south-east of the South American country the well showed initial tests of 900 barrels a day, the news agency reported.
It is the second discovery of an oil well this year, after seven attempts at drilling in the Hulia province by Ecopetrol, the publication continued.
Ecopetrol said that in "the coming months, tests and assessment of the findings will continue to determine the potential of the discovery", Mercopress published.
An official report from Ecopetrol explained that oil and gas flow naturally from the well and that the American Petroleum Institute gravity and gas has no presence of water, the news body added.
Meanwhile, India has signed an agreement with Colombia in the energy sector.
A memorandum of understanding was signed by India's minister for petroleum and natural gas Murli Deora and Hernan Martinez Torres, Colombia's minister of energy and mines.
The agreement will combine the countries' powers in the sector, particularly in the discovery of oil and gas.
