Nigeria's National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has established talks with private firm Prosec to implement a new training and development programme for unskilled Nigerian workers.
Vanguard Nigeria reports that the company has been called upon to assist the NDE in the establishment of a network of high-tech training academies that will enable Nigerian nationals to find work in the country's oil and gas industry and other sectors.
Director-general Mallam Abubakar Mohammed led talks with Prosec Systems chief executive Homossany Eliav at the NDE's headquarters in Abuja.
In addition to laying the groundwork for the establishment of a new network of training and development centres, the duo also discussed ways to maximise the efficiency of the Rural Education Programme, which looks to improve career prospects for Nigerians living outside of major urban and industrial districts.
The Nigerian government has also recently held talks with Uganda to extend existing training ties to fuel development in the countries' respective oil and gas industries.
