The Nigerian Petroleum Training Institute has matriculated 1,000 students on to its ICE training programme.
The Petroleum Training Institute located in Nigeria's Delta State has matriculated 1,000 new students on to its industrial continuing education (ICE) training programme.
Speaking to Vanguard, the institute's principal Raymond Akpojivi said that the new students will be able to fulfill a number of positions in the Nigerian oil and gas industry once their training is complete.
The ICE course has been running since 1995 and enrolment is made possible by the cooperation of companies participating in the Nigerian oil and gas industry, many of whom sponsor students throughout their studies.
"We expect you to demonstrate high and admirable sense of maturity and integrity, given the circumstance of your admission, the high premium placed on your admission and the organisations/companies you work for," he commented.
The Nigerian government has also this month introduced a local content bill to the house of representatives which has been drawn up to increase local participation in the oil and gas industry.
