The Northern Lights College in British Columbia has developed a diverse training programme that is geared towards helping the local community, according to the president of the college Jean Valgardson.
Speaking to Supply Chain Digital, Mr Valgardson explained that this commitment has been at the heart of the college's operations since its inception as a vocational school in 1965.
Since that time, it has gone on to achieve a number of significant milestones, such as achieving college status in 1975, and being designated British Columbia's centre of excellence for oil and gas training.
"I think what has made Northern Lights College a unique, credible institution is the evolution in its connection with its surrounding communities and industries," he told the industry journal.
The college also supports students with industry sponsorship opportunities such as the Talisman Aboriginal Entrance awards for full-time students at its Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson and Fort St John campuses.
