Engineering specialists from Trondheim University in Norway are set to travel to Angola to provide training for technical staff in Luanda, the Norwegian ambassador to the country Jon Vea has announced.
According to MacauHub, speaking in the capital, he said that in order to create a strong, diversified economy, Angola would need a steady stream of skilled workers.
"Angola will need hundreds of engineers in the oil sector as part of the development of its energy potential and Norway, which has vast experience, can help to obtain greater development," said Mr Vea.
The new training and development programme may help workers find employment in the country's oil and gas industry, where Norway's Statoil and Norsk Hydro are both actively engaged.
Earlier this week, StatoilHydro proudly opened the Newton Energy Room in Trondheim. The new facilities will provide leading edge facilities and equipment that will allow young people to familiarise themselves with the latest developments in the oil and gas industry.
