Nurturing Nigeria's development in the oil and gas industry will ensure there are people who can contribute to the future of the sector, one industry expert has said.
Dr Ibilola Amao, chief executive officer of Lonadek Oil and Gas Consultants, says her role in oil and gas training will help enable Nigerians to become competent and have the required skills and capacity to contribute to the industry.
"We really need to look at how we can grow the oil and gas industry in Nigeria to benefit more Nigerians," she tells the Daily Trust.
This will have ripple effects on the economy, she points out.
Dr Amao explains that there are people she trained with who have become successful in the oil and gas industry internationally and states that oil and gas education is a medium to long-term business.
Last week it was announced that American universities will offer 100 scholarship places to Ghanaian students.
Masters degrees will be on offer as part of the government's preparations to drill oil from the country.
