India's largest upstream oil group the Oil and National Gas Corp (ONGC) has signed a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Weatherford, according to Reuters.
The news agency reports that ONGC will call upon Weatherford to develop mature fields in the country and increase domestic output.
Weatherford is an international oil services provider that also provides both classroom and online training services.
The group also runs specialised training services elsewhere in the region, with upcoming courses in Malaysia and Dubai.
ONGC will call upon the company's expertise to bring mature fields up to optimum production levels using new technology and best practice engineering.
Earlier this year, the company also announced that it will increase oil and natural gas output with the second phase of the Mumbai High North redevelopment project, which will dramatically increase production levels over the next 20 years.
The second phase is expected to be completed by September 2012.
