Firms operating in the oil and gas industry have committed large sums of money to put rookie fire-fighters in Wyoming and the surrounding states through their paces at the Mid-Winter Fire school.
David Woolery, the school's chairman and the deputy fire marshal of the Riverton Volunteer Fire Department, told the Casper Star Tribune that the institute focuses on practical training and development that is responsive to current fire risks.
Students are invited to use the latest in fire-fighting technology, including thermal imaging cameras, response vehicles and safety equipment.
"A lot of oil and gas companies are donating money to bring in these students and instructors," he explained, with the number of students enrolling on the course each year continuing to grow.
The school has over 20 years' experience and offers a course schedule that is suitable for all skill levels, with a training and development programme that is compiled by experts across the US.
