Young people need to be attracted to the oil and gas industry, an expert has said.
First prorector at Moscow's Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, Viktor Martynov, told Oil & Gas Eurasia that youths should be made aware of career opportunities available in the sector as well as professional advancement.
The social position of the industry should also be heightened, Mr Martynov informed the website.
He stated that practical training is needed in the fundamentals of geology, physics and oil and gas engineering for work in "intelligent wells" and "smart fields".
On top of this Mr Martynov said that "expertise in modern computer technologies for the acquisition and processing of data and knowledge of professional software products and communications" is required.
The ability to work in a team was also advocated by the university employee.
Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas has trained around 70,000 diploma engineers, candidates and doctors of science.
