The Pazflor oil training centre in Angola will complement the government's efforts to upgrade the country's manpower, according to the national director of oil.
Amadeu Correia de Azevedo says the industry demands technically qualified staff in all fields and people must be given oil training and education to help them achieve working excellence.
He made his comments to the Angola Press following the inauguration ceremony of the new training centre.
Mr Correia de Azevedo adds that the oil ministry is preparing a regulating tool to enable the systematic training and regular upgrading of workers, in order for them to fulfil varying roles in the country's oil industry.
The sector has seen significant progress since 1996 he explains, and there is a need to ensure oil workers can deal with new technologies.
Run by Total, the oil training centre will give courses on perforation, valves and piping and electrical instrumentalisation.
