Scottish firm Outreach has become the first company in the UK to achieve accreditation from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) for its offshore access systems.
The offshore design, repairs, installation and training company is now the third in the world to receive the ABS seal of approval in this product category. It pursued certification following a surge in demand for its access systems in Brazil and the Gulf of Mexico.
Derek Payne, managing director for operations at Outreach, said that he expects that the accreditation will allow the company to establish a stronger foothold in these markets.
"We are all very proud of this fantastic achievement and believe it adds to the growing reputation of our Offshore Access Systems as easy to operate, safe, reliable and easy to maintain," he said.
Earlier this month, ABS announced that, for the first time in its 147-year history, the gross tonnage of its classed fleet exceeded the 150 million tonne mark.
