National oil firm Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) is getting behind a new initiative championed by the Association for Early Intervention (AEI) that is designed to offer training to support disabled children and their families.
Khaleej Times reports that PDO managing director John Malcolm and Abdullah Al Kindi, chairperson for the AEI, have signed a memorandum of understanding decreeing that the oil company will be funding training programmes for staff who make house visits to disabled children.
"PDO is pleased to help the AEI carry out its work in support of disabled children and their families. The programme is being funded as one of PDO's social-investment projects, which aim to help wider Omani society," he told the paper.
In addition to its robust training and development opportunities, PDO also maintains a social housing finance initiative, offering interest-free home loans for Omanis joining the country.
