Investment in Pakistan's oil and gas industry is set to receive a welcome international boost from a series of road shows planned for Canada, the US and the UK.
The Pakistani Daily Mail reports that while the venues have not been finalised, a senior official from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources (MNPR) has revealed that the tour will be designed to make the international community aware of Pakistan's favourable exploration and production taxation laws.
It is hoped that the country can also attract the expertise of the international oil and gas industry to boost the skills of its national workforce and achieve a self-sufficient energy sector.
Under the terms of the country's exploration laws, 50 per cent of the jobs created in each exploration block must be allocated to Pakistanis.
The country's petroleum policy for 2009 was unveiled on March 22 and placed self-sufficiency in the oil and gas industry at the top of the agenda for the year.
