PetroBru has completed its viability assessment of plans to build a new refinery in Pulau Muara Besar, Brunei.
Yeoh Sook, chief financial officer of TRC Synergy, of which PetroBru is an associate, told Malaysian daily paper the Star that the report was completed by UK-based consultancy Wood Mackenzie and is now awaiting a governmental reading.
"We have sent a letter to the Brunei government to request for a meeting to present the report. The meeting is crucial as we will also seek approval to proceed with the construction of the refinery," he said.
The new contract would build on TRC's success in Brunei in 2009, which began with the issuance of a licence to build a new maritime training centre in Kuantan.
The training centre is due to be completed in January 2011.
Mr Yeoh told the paper that he expects further contracts to be awarded once the second of the Brunei government's stimulus packages works its way into the economy.
