Building and operating an oil refinery requires an enormous commitment to training and development, Petrovietnam's chairman Dinh La Thang has said.
According to Vietnam News, Mr Thang's comments came last week as the group announced that the Dung Quat refinery is on schedule to begin operations on February 25th.
"Building and operating an oil refinery is an enormously complex task, requiring enormous investment in capital, technology and equipment, as well as skilled labour forces," he said.
In order to ensure that the country has the workers to man the refinery, PetroVietnam has teamed up with French firm Technip to extend oil training courses utilising operational simulators modelling the plant's atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit, continuous catalytic reformer unit, residue fluid catalytic cracking unit and light cycle oil hydrotreating unit.
VOV News reported earlier this month that the company's output projections had been heavily revised to take into account the slide in oil prices brought about by weakened demand.
