Delegates from an oil and gas producer and distributor in China have undertaken a tour of Texas's training facilities, it has emerged.
Chu Tianshun, one of the managers at Petrochina, told MyWestTexas.com that the delegates were in the American state to learn how to develop oil fields in China to be more efficient.
Mr Tianshun made his comments while on a tour of Midland Colleges Petroleum Professional Development Centre.
He added that oil fields in Texas are "highly automated", whereas those in China were run by many workers.
"We now have 25,000 wells so were interested in how your local companies produce wells less expensively and what technology you use," Chen Bingchun told the publication.
The Petroleum Professional Development Centre is a mid-career training centre and is one of only seven recognised by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.
