Petrofac is bringing industry best-practice offshore emergency response training to the Gulf of Mexico after achieving accreditation from Opito - The Oil and Gas Academy.
The new five-day course, which will be held at Louisiana State University's Fire and Emergency Training Institute (LSU FETI), has been designed to promote a uniform standard of safety training throughout the Gulf of Mexico and the wider oil and gas industry.
Jeffrey Gleason, director of LSU FETI, said: "Together, with their knowledge of the offshore industry and our combined expertise in fire training, the petrochemical companies in the Gulf of Mexico will now be able to provide better safety for their workers."
Earlier this month, UK marine engineering and services contractor Subsea 7 became the first company to achieve Opito accreditation for its minimum industry safety training programme.
The course includes nine modules covering topics such as risk assessment processes, controlling hazardous substances and working at height.
