Petrofac Training has opened its fourth major emergency management (MEM) simulator in the UK, based in its Alten training and development centre in Aberdeen.
The newest MEM has been built in response to global demand for Petrofac's assessments and courses for offshore installation managers and control room operators.
With a highly flexible and interconnected simulation environment, the new facility provides workers with highly-realistic disaster training scenarios to put them through their paces.
Mike Comerford, Petrofac Training's regional director for Europe, explained: "The new simulator will enhance our ability to deliver these vital training courses and assessment events and will help to meet the growing demand for our services."
Meanwhile, Chris Allen, Oil & Gas UK's health, safety, social and environment director, said that realistic simulations provide workers with practical experience of coping with even the most extreme disaster scenarios.
Petrofac currently employs more than 10,000 staff working from 24 offices around the globe.
