Petrofac has received a notice of award from Abu Dhabi's state-owned Gasco confirming its success in bidding for the construction of a fourth gas train at the Ruwais complex in the UAE capital.
Working with joint venture partner GS E&C, Petrofac will begin construction in August, with the contract to be serviced within 48 months.
The two companies estimate the total value of the contract at $2.1 billion (£1.287 billion), with Petrofac expected to take $1 billion.
Petrofac commented: "This is the first project to be awarded to Petrofac Emirates, the Joint Venture between Petrofac and Mubadala Petroleum Services LLC which was established in November 2008."
In other announcements made this week, Petrofac has also confirmed that it has acquired the AH001 floating production facility from Hess and Endeavour Energy UK. The facility has been in service in the UK North Sea since 1989 and is capable of processing around 70,000 barrels of oil and around 42.5 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.
