Petrofac has announced that its offshore engineering, engineering services, training and production solutions business have performed in line with expectations in the first five months of the year.
In its interim management statement for the period between January 1st and May 15th, the UK-listed company said that its training, engineering and production services had performed well during the tough economic circumstances of recent months.
"I am pleased to report that we have made a good start to the year and we are confident that 2009 will be another year of strong growth," said company chairman Rodney Chase.
However, Petrofac reported that there is evidence that some firms are making cutbacks.
The group explained that there had been a notable decrease in discretionary spending levels at some companies operating in the oil and gas industry.
Earlier this year, Petrofac became the first company to offer the new Minimum Industry Safety Training modules, accredited by Opito.
