Training efficiencies can help companies working in the oil and gas industry to improve oil recovery rates, Petroskills has claimed.
According to the Alberta, Canada-based firm, between one-third and half of the total oil in a reservoir will remain in place as it nears abandonment, usually because of natural limitations and a management strategy that is not optimised to get the most out of the well.
"Gaining a better understanding of the reservoir fundamentals and the important variables that influence the recovery process can enhance it," the company claims.
Petroskills has launched a training and development programme to address issues escalating costs, unfavourable fluid properties, reservoir heterogeneity and inefficient displacement, all of which can be tackled to help improve extraction rates while keeping costs down.
The company provides a host of additional training courses serving the oil and gas industry, including exploration and production, health and safety and surface facilities modules.
