Manufacturing giant Proclad has announced that around 500 jobs will be created during its move to new facilities to serve the oil and gas industry in Dubai.
Speaking to Arabian Business, Yaseen Jaffer, Proclad's chief executive, said that the first phase of the project was completed in July, boosting the company's annual production capacity threefold and also establishing a new training and development base for Proclad in the emirate.
The Proclad Academy, based at the Dubai Techno Park, aims to provide a no-nonsense approach to training and development, delivering return on investment with practical skills training in fields such as engineering, oil and gas leadership, procurement, administration, welding and inspection.
"Two additional manufacturing facilities are scheduled to begin production in the latter part of this year and we expect to see production levels increasing progressively until then," he added.
Both projects are due to commence later this year and will be completed by 2011, he added.
