National oil companies (NOCs) and international oil companies (IOCs) must collaborate in order to promote continual progress in the oil and gas industry, Qatar's minister of state for energy and industry Dr Mohammad Saleh Al Sada has claimed.
The Peninsula reports that the state representative said that ongoing partnerships between NOCs and IOCs have led to rapid technological developments that have supported growth in the industry, with the liquefied natural gas (LNG) market benefitting strongly from participation.
"NOC and IOC are partners complementing each other rather than contradicting each other," he insisted.
He went on to state that while NOCs, as the world's largest energy providers, feel a commitment to promoting energy security, IOCs hold a responsibility to train national workforces and promote community development in oil-rich countries and regions.
Qatar is the world's largest exporter of LNG, having surpassed Indonesia in 2006.
