Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Petroleum and Oman Petro Environmental Services Company (Oman PESCO) have signed a new contract covering training and spill response services for RAK Petroleum's offshore interests in Oman.
Oman PESCO will provide training and oil spill protection and response services for two years under the new agreement, during which RAK Petroleum's staff will be trained to international standards in the handling of offshore slicks and spills.
"This agreement is a clear demonstration that RAK Petroleum Oman Limited takes their environmental responsibilities seriously and that efforts are continually made to mitigate risks to the environment," said the company in a statement.
It added that the agreement was also testament to the two companies' proactive approach to mitigating the risks of spills, with pre-emptive measures being taken to move beyond the typical reactionary response.
RAK Petroleum acquired exploration rights to two concessions in Oman in April, when it bought out two divisions of Indago Petroleum.
