While many women may have overlooked a career in the oil and gas industry, READ Well Services is keen to attract new female workers.
Such is the claim of the Press and Journal, which has noted that the group has just hired two female engineers at its bases in Norway and Scotland.
Anja Reinholdtsen and Viktoriya Nam are both currently undertaking an intensive oil training course to familiarise themselves with the oil and gas sector, after previously being schooled in biomedical engineering and geology respectively.
And while they have both said that the oil energy sector is different from their past experiences, it is a welcome change.
"Working in the oil and gas industry has given me the opportunity to take on responsibility, it has given me new challenges, and when I overcome difficulties, I can be really proud of myself," said Ms Nam.
READ's core specialty is custom well construction, providing seismic, cased hole services, solid expandable tubulars and permanent downhole instrumentation.
