The Rocky Mountain Oil Testing Centre (RMOTC) has installed a wind turbine on a historic oil field for training purposes.
Working in collaboration with Casper College, the centre has erected the turbine to provide students on oil training courses with a practical awareness of the growing importance of energy innovation.
"The wind turbine, manufactured by Proven Energy, will serve as a training tool to educate college students on their quest to become renewable energy technicians," the college claimed in a statement.
The turbine is capable of generating six kilowatts of electricity and serves to highlight the kinds of technologies the next generation of workers in the energy sector will be utilising.
Casper College promotes its engineering courses on its small class sizes, which allow for a focus on individual training and development requirements.
It claims that this tailored approach has proved a major draw for universities in the state and elsewhere in the US.
