ROC has announced that 2008 was a tumultuous year for the company and its subsidiaries, with many great achievements matched by unprecedented challenges.

In an address to its shareholders, the company said that despite these difficulties being carried over into 2009 and likely to persist beyond the end of the year, the board has taken strong action to ensure that its profitability and agility are maintained throughout these inimical conditions.

However, the firm's chairman and chief executive officer Bruce Clement announced that none of the measures would be implemented without the full strength of the workforce.

"The team had to have a clear plan and have an ability to execute on it decisively. This has occurred; the team being all employees have worked tirelessly and cooperatively to achieve the necessary outcomes," he announced.

ROC has also maintained a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility with the development of training initiatives involving local communities, principally in Australia and Angola.

The company also operates in the UK North Sea, China and elsewhere in Africa.
