Rawabi United Safety Services (RUSS) has inaugurated a new technical operations and training centre to provide young Saudis with an entrance into the country's oil and gas industry.
The Saudi Gazette reports that the new centre, based in Dhahran, has been built as part of a joint venture between the Saudi-based Rawabi Holding Co and United Safety Services of Canada.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Sheikh Abdulaziz Ali Al-Turki, chairman of the Saudi firm, said the new centre will "enable sectors of the petroleum industry, such as those in the upstream, downstream, and marine operations, to receive full assurance of safety and protection through the services and training provided by the centre".
United Safety chief executive Lee Whittaker said that RUSS will use the very latest technology to provide clients and students with a leading edge in the oil and gas industry.
The Canadian firm specialises in plant turnaround, providing highly trained workers to deliver best-in-class safety solutions for the energy sector.
