Vietnamese president Nguyen Minh Triet has signed a directive to issue the Russian National Gupkin University with the Labour Order, third class, in recognition of its commitment to training Vietnamese workers.
Gubkin University is Russia's largest educational institution for oil and gas training and research and it has helped to train more than 350 Vietnamese workers since it first established links with the South East Asian country in 1958.
VOV News reports that the charge d'affaires of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia Pham Thi Ngoc Bich handed the order to the university on April 16th as the institution celebrated its 80th anniversary.
Of those Vietnamese workers trained at the institution, two have been trained to doctoral standards, while 46 associate doctors have also graduated from the institute.
Vietnam has also this month strengthened training and trade ties with Argentina and Kazakhstan as part of a high-profile diplomacy drive.
