The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and Opito have come together in a landmark partnership that will consolidate the provision of oil and gas training in the UK.
Under the terms of the agreement, the two bodies will work together to provide a single point of access to vocational and educational qualifications to prepare people for a career in the UK oil and gas industry.
Both companies will focus on providing training regimes that are responsive to the specific needs of the industry, a statement from the companies insisted.
Opito chief executive David Doig commented: "This new approach will give the industry full ownership of what skills and knowledge are needed to make a worker competent and how this is continually measured and recorded."
Opito also last month announced plans to target growth in the south east with a new partnership with the University of East Anglia to produce a bespoke graduate internship training programme.
