Saudi Aramco is utilising virtual reality (VR) training to help improve health and safety awareness among its workforce.
Working with EON Reality, the company has developed realistic and highly detailed virtual environments to train workers to industry best practice safety standards.
"The Virtual Reality Training System visually simulates the processes with real-time feedback in a scalable 3D environment," said EON Reality in a statement.
In addition to improving safety procedures, the VR system is also helping Saudi Aramco to cut costs associated with training and development processes, the company claimed.
Last month, Saudi Aramco also announced the completion of its Summer Gifted Students Programme, which invites 200 of the country's most promising high school students to learn more about science, mathematics and engineering.
Huda Al-Ghoson, executive director of employee relations and training at Saudi Aramco, said that it is vital that students also develop the practical skills necessary to succeed in the oil and gas industry, in addition to developing strong aptitude in theoretical disciplines.
