Shell Oil has extended its support for San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas, with company executives touring the academic facilities last week.
The company sent a delegation of three executives from its neighbouring Deer Park offices to the college's central campus, where they were met by Mike Speegle, department chair of the process technology, instrumentation and electrical technology programmes.
Houston Community Newspapers reports that the trio were treated to a tour of the college's state of the art workshops and labs, which Shell has helped to support with funding for new equipment.
The oil and gas supermajor has also helped to fund students during their time at San Jacinto with a broad scholarship programme.
The company has also hosted a number of specialist oil and gas training programmes to help local women excel in the oil and gas industry.
Mr Speegle noted that "less than three percent of the operations personnel in the processing industry are female".
