Siemens Oil and Gas has opened up opportunities for the transfer of gas transport technology with Kazakhstan as part of a multifaceted trade agreement.
During German chancellor Angela Merkel's visit to the country, Siemens signed a broad memorandum of understanding covering the energy sector, healthcare and national infrastructure projects.
The gas deal will pave the way for new technology and training to economise and improve Kazakhstan's gas transport infrastructure, with a preliminary agreement reached on the sale and assembly of new gas compressor units.
Siemens chief executive Peter Loescher said yesterday (July 18th) that the broad agreement will help to solidify the company's already-strong presence in Kazakhstan.
"In its 16 years of work in Kazakhstan Siemens has proven to be a reliable and trustful partner, supporting Kazakhstan in developing a modern and competitive economy and infrastructure based on latest technologies," he said.
In 2008, Kazakhstan commenced construction of a landmark Central Asia pipeline to transport Caspian sea reserves to China.
