Socar, the state oil company of Azerbaijan, has announced that it is focusing on improving oil training standards and ensuring environmental safety at the Kulevi oil terminal.
Azeri news agency Trend reports that a new policy statement from the company places particular emphasis on improving all aspects of environmental performance, from emissions reduction to natural conservation.
The group stressed its commitment to ensuring minimal environmental damage at the Kulevi plant, particularly as it is located in the Kolkheti national park, an area recognised by the Ramsar Convention of Wetlands as having unique international importance.
In order to ensure high environmental standards are upheld throughout the terminal, the company has invested in new training and development programmes promoting industry best practice guidelines.
Socar has also recently hosted a training event at its Azerikimya production unit, working with armed forces personnel to improve emergency response standards.
According to the APA news agency, more than 200 civil security force personnel were involved in the training.
